Starry Skies in Sedona, Arizona
Updated: Jun 13, 2019
There is nothing in the world quite like the view of the sunset light hitting the sandstone rock formations surrounding Sedona. Once the sun fully sets, the formations appear to radiate the light they've soaked up back out into the world. Shooting the starry sky in Sedona is a great experience and if you have the capability, a worthwhile pursuit.
There are excellent hiking trails throughout the Sedona area that will provide excellent views of all of the formations. We didn't get an opportunity to hike some of the more involved ones due to time but did make it down some of the more accessible ones along HWY 179 around Bell Rock and the Court House Vista. The trails are relatively flat and easy going in this area.
For those looking for a spiritual experience, Sedona is home to several energy vortexes through the valley. Vortexes are the intersections of natural electromagnetic earth energy, also known as ley lines. Don't be surprised to find people meditating or doing yoga at these sites. More information on these vortexes can be found at Visit Sedona website.
Depending on your time, the Grand Canyon is just a 2 hour drive north of Sedona. It is every bit as awe inspiring as you can imagine and worth the drive.
